Yesterday, there was this event where, apart from other things, Roland Reyer presented some of the new features of Maya 2016 Extension 2.
Roland is very excited about all the new stuff every time and with every new version of Maya, but for us, long-time users, that means we have to be very skeptical about it. It usually looks great on the presentation, but real work use is filled with bugs or lack of essential functionality.
For example – new Blend Shape Editor looks great for rigging. It can also group blend shapes to control them at once. But this grouping it not present in the channel box. So I’m curious, whether this could be connected later to some custom attribute. Because as it looks now, this feature is there just for a rigger to play with and for excitement on presentations… not for animators to actually use it.
